What do we need to be happy?
Or rather – what do we need to do to become happy?
In various smart books we are told that we do not need to do anything to achieve happiness. Quite the opposite. We must first actually be happy, and then take any and all our actions while being in this state of happiness. Then all our actions will be right.
Those smart books are certainly correct. Only it is not actually clear how to get into this state of happiness that one does not need to do anything to achieve.
Ordinary people will say that to be happy we need such things as money, family, friends, health, good employment and a couple of other things. They are also correct. Well, at any rate most of us certainly need all that stuff for happiness. But is it enough?
For many years I have been pondering this problem. I have tried different ways of “how to become happy”, studied psychology, yoga, meditation… The most unexpected metamorphosis that had happened to me during this time is that step by step I turned from a convinced atheist into a convinced believer. If 15 years ago (not to mention 25) someone had told me that I would be talking about God, the soul, etc., I would have thought that person to be an idiot. But now I understand that this transformation was completely natural and not accidental.
This faith of mine has got nothing to do with religion. Any religion wants to stand between me and the Higher Powers. But I feel that I do not need an intermediary, and therefore do not need religion. My faith is partly – a feeling (somewhat like an inner knowledge stemming from an incomprehensible source), and partly – an understanding. Of course, I would have liked there to be more of the feeling, but – there’s a time for everything.
I am absolutely certain of the existence of Higher Powers which guide each and every one of us, every creature and the whole Universe itself. I am certain that we have all come to this planet with a purpose, a mission, and – in order to become happy – we need to understand and achieve this mission. I am further certain that this life that we have is not the first and not the last, and that everything that we achieve in it we can take with us into Eternity. I am likewise certain that although the Higher Powers exist universally, their closest source is within us ourselves.
This faith is the place where I find my support and the answers to my questions: those which life constantly poses in front of me, like it does for all of us. I make moral decisions on its basis. It is a system of coordinates in which I assess different practices for one’s self-development. Those aimed at becoming more happy, realizing more fully one’s potential and achieving one’s goals.
I have observed that my views are often very different from those that prevail in mass media, including the Internet. They also differ from a great many books and other sources on self-development, psychology or yoga. I would say that they differ from 90% of what exists on the Internet. How? I would say that my beliefs are based on 2 main pillars – faith and skepticism. Without faith, the system would have no reliable basis (I am no longer interested in systems in which there is no faith), and without some reasonable skepticism, faith would turn into religion.
Thus, I decided to start blogging to express my views and attract a group of like-minded people who think and feel in a similar way. I am not alleging that I will assert anything radically new – in fact, all of this has been said before by someone, sometime, somewhere. But each of these prior voices is choked by the constant background buzzing of mass media. I also look forward to discovering and learning more and more by maintaining this blog.
So, who is this blog for? This blog is for those persons who may find themselves interested in an alternative and sometimes not very common view on a variety of things which can be useful to us in the search for happiness. I plan to write about health, money, people – as well as various practices, such as yoga or meditation. This blog is not intended to give answers – this blog has been created so that its readers have the chance to ask themselves the right questions. About themselves, their life and their Path. Another aim of this blog is to provide the tools for finding answers to these questions. So that each of us could create their own philosophy, their own religion, their own Bible.
And so, I begin…
I have been surfing online greater than three hours lately, but I by
no means found any fascinating article like yours.

They are really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are too
quick for newbies. May just you please extend them a

My idea is to write short posts. I think they are easier to digest. And there are many posts, so for everybody who wants to read more – he can do that
